Music for Christmas Eve

5 p.m. Family Service

Karen Axelrad and Lexiana Krause will sing Christmas solos for the 5 p.m. Family Christmas Eve service. The congregation will sing several familiar Christmas carols, including “Silent Night”.

10:40 p.m. & 11 p.m. Candlelight Service

A Pre-service Christmas Concert will begin at 10:40 p.m. as we gather for the 11 p.m. Christmas Eve Candlelight service. The Sanctuary Choir and vocal soloists will sing during this service, as well. Many favorite Christmas carols will be sung by the congregation at this service too. The service with close our traditional candle lighting as we sing “Silent Night”.

Commissioning Our Short-Term Mission Team to Thailand:

Near the close of our Morning Worship on Sunday, December 24th members of our Thailand Mission Team will be commissioned in a brief service led by our Church Moderator, Tom Henry. The team is scheduled to leave on Friday, January 12, 2018 with a return on Friday, January 26, 2018. A prayer sheet with information about the team will be distributed to all of you willing to be our prayer partners during this trip.

RMMO Offering at Christmas Eve Candlelight Service

The Retired Ministers and Missionaries Offering will be received at the 11:00 p.m. Christmas Eve service—funds not identified for the church budget will go to the RMMO. The RMMO provides an annual “thank you” check to retired American Baptist ministers and missionaries as well as providing emergency funds for retirees in need of assistance.'But generous people plan to do what is generous, and they stand firm in their generosity'. Isaiah 32:8

First Baptist extends a warm welcome to Pastor Scotty Robertson,his wife, Jami, and children Jacob, Chase and Karlee. This past year, God has been preparing the Robertson’s as well as our congregation for this wonderful opportunity to serve together. We are beyond thrilled to see where God will lead us.

Please join us Sunday, December 31st for Pastor Scotty’s first service at First Baptist. There will be a light breakfast and social gathering from 9:30 - 10:00 a.m. to welcome Pastor Scotty and his family. It will be a service you don’t want to miss.

“The Shack” Movie and Study begins Jan. 7, 2018

Come join Pastor Scotty as he brings a message of Hope and Healing through the movie "THE SHACK". The Shack movie is based on one of the best-selling novels of all time and is a modern-day fictional parable that explores the nature of God, His goodness and love, the power of forgiveness and how He helps us deal with pain.

When: Sundays January 7, 14, 21, 28 and February 4 & 11.

Sunday, January 7 the class will run from 5:00 to 7:30 p.m. and this will be the movie showing. The meeting time for the remaining five Sundays will be from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m.

We will be taking reservations after our Sunday services, starting Sunday December 17 or by calling the church office.

"Wednesday Night for Kids"
Resumes on January 10

Children in 1st – 6th grades will resume singing and music activities with Chris, and Christian activities with Beth and Suzanne from 6:30 – 8 p.m. on Wed., Jan. 10. Whether your family is new to First Baptist Church or you have been attending for a long time, we invite you to bring your school-aged children and their friends, or your grandchildren and join in the great activities and fun planned on Wednesday nights for the children this winter.

Annual Reports due January 10

Attention Staff, Board and Committee Chairpersons and Sunday School classes: In preparation of the Annual Business Meeting in late January, annual reports will be due in the church office by Wednesday, January 10. Thank you for your thoughtfulness in meeting this deadline.

Experience the joy of Christmas with those less fortunate of our community. Please take a name or two off the Mission tree in the narthex (Nov. 26) and purchase the gift the child requested and return by Dec. 17 wrapped with the ornament attached to the outside. The packages will be delivered on the morning of Dec. 18. Many Christmas blessings to you for supporting this wonderful mission.

We are collecting non-perishable food items for our Christmas gift baskets. Please bring your donations to the church and place them in the chapel area of the sanctuary by December 17.Thank you for your generous donation to help the hungry in our community.

The Mission Board will be collecting used coats in October and November for Hope House and Center of Hope. As the days grow colder, please remember those who are less fortunate and in need of a warm coat. Place used coats that are in good condition in the marked container in the narthex.


Thank you to everyone that has been a part of First Baptist hosting SHALOM the week of Dec. 10 – 17.


The Mission Board is collecting empty pill bottles for Matthew 25: Ministries. Your donation of empty over-the-counter and prescription plastic pill bottles serve two purposes. They are used to distribute medicine to the poorest of the poor worldwide and it keeps thousands of bottles out of landfills each year. Please remove medical labels, rinse thoroughly and put your pill bottles in the marked box in the narthex. An information sheet with details of Matthew 25: Ministries Pill Bottle Program are available at the Welcome Center
