Curriculum at First Baptist Church Daycare

Children enrolled in First Baptist Church Daycare take part in age-appropriate curriculum and experiences that stimulate their development.

Preschool learning areas

For our younger learners, a balance of structured activities, free play and interaction between caregivers and classmates helps to promote sharing, independence, socialization and the development of new kills. First Baptist Church Daycare focuses on the following preschool learning areas:

Language: "Show and Tell" activities, stories, songs, finger plays, dramatic play.
Self image: Large and small muscle activities, body part recognition, art activities.
Senses & perception: Science activities, matching games, music activities, listening games.
Problem solving: Puzzles, block building, math games, free play (indoors and outdoors), interaction with other children.
Relationships & classification: Math activities, opposites and sizes, board games, color identification, letter identification and name recognition.

School-age learning areas

The school-age childcare program (SACC) at First Baptist Church Daycare is a cross between a social club, arts and craft class, and a media center. We try not to duplicate the curriculum being taught in school.

The group size and age of students in SACC are considered when arranging age-appropriate activities. Schedules are posted on the parent bulletin board.
