Local & national missions
First Baptist Church partners with multiple local and national ministries, including AA, MOPS, Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts. The church also conducts various food drives and clothing drives throughout the year. Explore more below.
Ministry partners meeting at First Baptist
- Alcoholics Anonymous: First Baptist provides a meeting place for AA at 7 p.m. on Mondays and Thursdays.
- Boy Scouts & Cub Scouts: First Baptist charters Boy Scout Troop 718 and Cub Scout Pack 19, who use the church facility for meetings, overnights and other special events. The church also celebrates Scout Sunday each year, where the Scouts are invited to participate in the Sunday morning worship service.
Food & clothing drives
- Christmas food drive & mission tree gifts: In the weeks leading up to Christmas, members of the congregation can donate food items and purchase gifts for children (via ornaments placed on the church's mission tree), which are then delivered to needy families in the Middletown area.
- Coats for Christ: Gently used coats, gloves, mittens and scarves are collected (starting in October) for distribution to local people in need.
- Salvation Army drives: Each July, school supplies are donated by the congregation and delivered to the local Salvation Army. First Baptist also supports our local Salvation Army through food and clothing drives, along with monetary donations.
- Thanksgiving food drive: In the weeks leading up to Thanksgiving, members of the congregation can donate non-perishable food items, which are then delivered to local food pantries for distribution.
Special offerings
- America for Christ: This annual offering (typically collected in March) is taken for missions in America, helping to fund programs for the disadvantaged.
- Retired Ministers & Missionaries Offering: This annual offering (typically collected in December) serves as an extra bonus to retired American Baptist ministers and missionaries. The offering supports those who have dedicated their lives to God’s service by providing emergency assistance in times of need and a thank-you check at the end of each year.
Additonal local & national ministry partners
- Hope House Mission: Faith-based ministry, serving homeless men, women and children in Butler, Warren, and surrounding counties in Southwest Ohio. Provides comprehensive programs and services designed to promote long-term, sustainable life transformation.
- SHALOM(Serving the Homeless with Alternative Lodging in Middletown): First Baptist participates in this network of 15 local churches that provide meals and shelter for homeless men, women, and children in Middletown. From November through March, churches host guests on a rotating schedule for a period of 1 week. When guests stay at FBC, they are served dinner and breakfast and are provided with shower and laundry facilities, socializing opportunities and a safe and warm place to sleep.
- GIRLSCOUT- First Baptist Church hosts Girl Scout Troop 99, offering a space for weekly meetings, skill-building workshops, and collaborative community service projects.
